TeamBretMichaels.com Story: Luke & Jedi, A Boy & His Dog Fight Diabetes
This is my son Luke and his diabetic alert dog Jedi. Luke was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when he was 2 years old. He has been a hero every day since then. For the last two years I have worked with his trainers at Canine Hope for Diabetics to train him to be his Diabetic Alert Dog. Jedi helps us know when his blood sugars are too high and too low which has saved Luke from countless high and low blood sugars and all the bad feelings that come along with those. He has helped allow Luke to be a kid without having to worry about Type 1. They are truly best friends now and Jedi is with him for every finger prick, every shot, every visit to the hospital. Every day we share our story at http://www.facebook.com/savingluke to help spread awareness about Type 1 diabetes. Luke starts kindergarten in a few weeks, plays soccer, and loves to swim, he doesn’t let anything stop him and his strength and strong spirit remind me everyday how amazing he is and why we need to keep fighting for a cure. Thank you Bret for sharing their picture on your facebook page last year, it has allowed us to reach so many more people and for that we are all very grateful.
