Kristi-Rae’s story about her son Jake.
9 yr old T1 fan

Hey there Bret!
My husband and I are very excited to be going tonight to the concert tonight (7/19/2011) in Mansfield Ma at the Comcast Center. Our 9 year old was very excited to hear that we were going tonight to see you as well. He looks up to you as he also has Type 1 diabetes. Jake was diagnosed at the age of 3 and just this past March finally decided to go on an insulin pump. Four months in and it has made a world of difference in his A1C’s.
I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thanks for being such a positive influence to kids with T1. Jake sees you living out a dream of being a musician and it reinforces his belief that he can do anything despite his diabetes. He has become a little advocate in his school, teaching everyone who will listen about T1 diabetes. On the “Day of Hope” he managed to convince his entire class to write the word “HOPE” on their hand in an effort to raise awareness. He quickly convinced the Principal, Vice Principal and many other school staff to do it as well. We are so proud that he is not afraid to share his story and educate people.
Looking forward to seeing the show tonight!!! Thanks again!!
Kristi-Rae 🙂
